Ok folks, well this is my second tutorial type video, hopefully Im getting a little better at this. Anyway, I get a ton of emails asking us how we took the 3D model of our car and create the forms seen in some of the earlier videos. Since the past two months have been full of holidays and bad weather we have not been able to work on the car much so I decided to do a short video explaining the 3D cad in under 10 minutes. The Sears Model 7245 reel to reel tape recorder probably dates from the mid 1960’s and oddly, although a 5-inch reel to reel tape recorder, it was not designed for good music reproduction or recording, even though it was equipped with a strong 6-transistor AC bias amplifier and capstan drive. Capstan drive is no guarantee of music fidelity — just try music on a capstan driven microcassette recorder! This machine arrived DOA from E-Bay. It had a number of unsolvable problems caused by prior use and someone’s attempt to repair it: Scratched heads No pressure pads (I replaced these) Incorrect wobbly replacement pinch roller Incorrect rubber take up table belt (should have been fiber or spring) Overall poor mechanical design. I replaced the main drive belt, but cannot find the proper replacement take up reel belt, which was …
